Madonna Re-Humps Vanity Fair (Green)

Madonna's excerpts from her Vanity Fair interview and London's The Times' James Christopher review of her feature film, Filth and Wisdom -

On the birth of her daughter Lourdes putting Madonna on the road that ended in Malawi: If you have children, you know you're responsible for somebody, she explained. You realize you are being imitated; your belief systems and priorities have a direct influence on these children, who are like flowers in a garden. So you start to second-guess everything you value, and the suffering of other children becomes much more intolerable.

James Christopher of London's The Times positive review of Filth and Wisdom: Her film has an artistic ambition that has simply bypassed her husband, the film director Guy Ritchie. She captures that wonderfully accidental nature of luck when people's lives intersect for a whole swathe of unlikely but cherishable reasons. Altmanesque would be stretching the compliment too far, but Filth and Wisdom shows Madonna has real potential as a director.

Steven Meisel

A narration excerpt from Madonna's I Am Because We Are - 90 minutes Malawi documentary: People always ask me why I chose Malawi. And I tell them, I didn’t. It chose me. I got a phone call from a woman named Victoria Keelan. She was born and raised in Malawi. She told me that there were over one million children orphaned by aids. She said there weren’t enough orphanages. And that the children were everywhere. Living on the streets. Sleeping under bridges. Hiding in abandoned buildings. Being abducted, kidnapped, raped. She said it was a state of emergency. She sounded exhausted and on the verge of tears. I asked her how I could help. She said, You’re a person with resources. People pay attention to what you say and do. I felt embarrassed. I told her I didn’t know where Malawi was. She told me to look it up on a map, and then she hung up on me. I decided to investigate, and I ended up finding out much more than I bargained for, about Malawi, about myself, about humanity.

Madonna's Hard Candy will be available on Tuesday April 29, and you can pre-order it now on ITunes.

Synopsis: On December 8, 1980 Mark David Chapman shocked the world by murdering the beloved purveyor of peace, 40-year old musician and activist, John Lennon, outside The Dakota, his New York apartment building. Chapman’s motives were fabricated from pure delusion, fueled by an obsession with the fictional character Holden Caulfield and his similar misadventures in J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. In one instant, an anonymous, 25-year old, mentally unstable, socially awkward Beatles fan--who had fluctuated between idealizing Lennon and being overcome with a desire to kill him--altered the course of history.

Ashton Kutcher Humps VMan

Pop Fiction Executive Producer Ashton Kutcher graces the cover and pages of VMan Spring/Summer 2008 issue, to collobrate with Photog Mario Testino on a robotic spread.

On the concept for the photoshoot: I had a vision one day. I was watching one of those Gatorade commercials where they had a guy on a treadmill, and they're testing to see what his physical abilities are. I had this idea: what did the creator—God or whatever—make you for? Maybe we're all doing exactly what we're supposed to be doing, and we're all actually robots.

On getting around before settling down: I had a serial-dating period. I was pretty abusive of my attributes for a while...My fame and my looks. I was pretty abusive to a lot of people. This movie [Spread] is kind of my way to say I'm sorry to a lot of girls I may have hurt by being disrespectful.

On his love scenes with Michelle Pfeiffer: I don't think I've ever romanced an older woman. I've romanced a woman...If I had stepped back as myself and said, 'You're going to work today to make love to Michelle Pfeiffer,' that would freak me the f*ck out. I would have been like, 'Holy sh*t!' I would have had a really awkward time doing that. So I just approached it from within the character's world—just one character seeking comfort from another character, a compartmentalized existence that wasn't my own.

On living the sweet life: My life is so far from domesticated. That is not a good definition of me at all. Demi and I play around the world, and that is awesome. I was just on the phone with my agent and he said to me, 'I don't know many people who have it as good as you have it.' And I don't know anyone who has it as good as I have it. I have a great spiritual foundation, an amazing career, a loving, supportive wife and family, I have a lot of friends, and I don't have any enemies. I don't know a lot of people who have what I have.
