The Democratic National Convention ended yesterday (August 28) with Barack Obama accepting the presidential nomination from his party based on the promise of change, hope and America's participation. His acceptance falls on civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech's 45th anniversary, a befitting day. And even Obama's presidential opponent sent out a strategic, congratulatory message -
As promised, director Jason Stürmer will post his political columns and video blogs pertaining to the two major parties National Conventions soon. So stay tuned for that insightful commentary. To see detail photos on all fours days of DNC coverages, visit Newsday.com.
I watched The Black List documentary last night after the Democratic National Convention coverage, and I thoroughly enjoyed it because the doc redefined what it means to be on the black list and illuminated contemporary, non-victim African-Americans and their experiences. The film was shot by cinematographer Graham Willoughby, and for once the array of dark skins are pristinely photographed as they popped onscreen like images from humanize coffee table books.
Catch The Black List on cable and dive right in.
The Black List screened at Sundance Film Festival (Spectrum) and South by Southwest Film Festival, and began airing on HBO & On-Demand last

Directors Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard's do-it-yourself feauture film documentary explores the spirit behind an influential cultural movement of a generation. In the early 1990's a loose-knit group of like minded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop and graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the "establishment" art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.

The eight-times Olympian swimmer Michael Phelps re-creates seven-times Mark Spitz's 1972 picture for Sports Illustrated's August 26's historical cover.
On if Phelps will don the sports-favored Wheaties cereal box: It's going to be Kellogg's says Peter Carlisle (Phelps' Agent).
And Kellogg's confirmed to Access Hollywood that Phelps will appear on their Kellogg's Corn Flakes and Kellogg's Frosted Flakes. Phelps Kellogg's boxes arrive in stores in September 2008.
I rarely watch NBC's Today show, but I'm glued to Olympics coverages on NBC. As I was putting on my shoes and heading out this morning, I decided to see what's going on with the Olympics, only to find laugh-out-loud Matt Lauer and Al Roker training to be male tandem rhythmic gymnasts and then performing their routine to Gary Wright's Dream Weaver. Look out for Newsman Brian Williams cameo as well.
See the funny clip below - enjoy!
