The Entertainment Weekly publication presents An Evening With Kenny Ortega [This Is It - Michael Jackson doc-film director] on Monday, November 2 at 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Entertainment Weekly Lounge in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

AFI Fest describes the event as --- Kenny Ortega taught modern Hollywood how to dance. The director of the Michael Jackson documentary - This is It - Ortega began his career as a choreographer and is responsible for some of the most iconic, indelible dance performances captured on film in the last 30 years. From the roller-disco fantasia of Xandau, to Jon Cryer's "Try A Little Tenderness" number in Pretty in Pink, to Matthew Broderick's "Twist and Shout" sequence in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ortega showed Gen X how to be cool. Then, with Dirty Dancing, he showed the entire world how to be hot. Ortega made his film directing debut with the ahead-of-its-time Newsies and went on to introduce the musical genre to a new generation, directing all three High School Musical movies. Next up: a reimagining of Footloose, starring Chace Crawford. Entertainment Weekly is honored to invite you to join Los Angeles Bureau Chief Sean Smith in celebrating the work of Kenny Ortega, one of Hollywood's true visionaries, at the AFI FEST 2009 presented by Audi.
