Jodi Dybala @ Gate of India [Restaurant]

Actress and Food Connoisseur Jodi Dybala joins Reserve Result (RR) as a guest contributor --- blogging about her unbiased dining escapades at local restaurants. Let's welcome Jodi Dybala and digest her exclusive column on dining out.

Scott Subiono @ Illyrium Productions

RR Sideshow: Guest Contributing Writer - Jodi Dybala

I was at the 3rd Street Promenade and really craving Indian Food. It turns out Gate of India was the only Indian restaurant in the area, or at least that was on the map. So there I was, ready for some delectable, savory food. The lights were dim, the music was eclectic and the ceilings were draped with colorul fabrics. A woman, possibly Rita, the owner, came and took my order. That was the last that saw of her until she gave me my bill. Other than that, I pretty much got no service. I saw a runner and asked him if I could get some garlic naan. It felt like over ten minutes had passed and I still didn't get any naan. Thinking maybe there was some confusion, I saw him serving new customers water and I waved at him. He just looked at me. He said nothing. No, It's on the way or sorry we're out or anything.

I was trying to read while waiting for my food and the lights were dimmed even more. Finally, my food was served. My chicken curry and peas and carrotts came in a little dish on top of a candle so it stayed warm. Nice touch. I do like my food to stay warm. The rice came on a seperate dish.

I enjoyed my food, however I'd give this place 3[*** out of 5] stars because of poor service, lighting so dim, you can hardly see your food and their to-go containers are plastic [which is not so good for putting hot food in-- my hot food practically melted the plastic and ya know studies have shown that plastic leaches into the food and can cause cancer!]

Life is short. Enjoy your food.

Adam Green's Frozen - Trailer

The kiddies Emma Bell, Kevin Zegers, Shawn Ashmore star in writer/director Adam Green's Frozen which premieres at Sundance Film Festival in January 2010. Here are the spanking new trailer and synopsis a la Sundance -

On a chilly winter night, three skiers huddle together on a chairlift, confused as to why their ride to the summit suddenly stops. The sting of the icy wind worsens when the floodlights power down, leaving them stranded in the dark. As they wait for help, the reality of the nightmare hits them. The ski resort has just closed, abandoning the group stranded high above the mountain slopes in an oncoming snow storm. With ominous howls echoing through the surrounding woods, they will need to make some tough decisions in order to survive. Writer/director Adam Green skillfully guides this real-world thriller, pushing three college students to confront their natural fears of the dark, cold, heights, and beyond, to see how far a human is willing to go to survive. With bone-chilling performances by Kevin Zegers, Shawn Ashmore and Emma Bell, Frozen continues horror's time-honored tradition of scaring audiences away from their favorite recreational activities.

Frozen rolls into theaters on February, February 5 of 2010.

Lunch With Designer Jerell Scott

RR Sideshow: Guest Contributing Writer - Jae Joseph

I recently paid a visit to a great friend of mine - Jerell Scott - an Los Angeles based designer - and Season 5 contestant on pop candy fave - Project Runway. He and I sat back to recap on the season's events during Los Angeles Fashion Week. Jerell was quite the busy fellow - with a runway presentation held at The Museum Of Contemporary Art [MOCA] - an art installation at One Take Studios which featured a live performance by Macy Gray, and ending the week with a finale show alongside Project Runway's Korto Momolu.

Emily Perez

We conversed on the highlighted moments as well as the raised eyebrows. I admire Jerell's influence from indigeneous cultures, with a collection of tribal prints and studding embellishments. Jerell gave me a peek at what he is up to next. He says he is gunning for that Hollywood young starlet, not to mention Katy Perry was seen prancing about town in one of his coveted designs. It was such a great visit, and i told Jerell that i was excited to see what he had planned for fashion week in 2010. Jerell Scott Designs is currently sold at H. Lorenzo.

Here are blog snippets from Garner's rag dishing session -

On her and husband-Ben's interview approach: Ben asks me, 'How come when I do an interview I manage to keep you out of it completely?' And I’m like, 'Either because you don't think about me or because boy magazines don't care about what I make you for dinner. But they should!

On gal friends and Ben: I miss my girlfriends! That's the hardest thing about being on location when it's not for your own project. When it's for you, you're on set with everybody you know, but if not, it's lonely. I can live with Ben working crazy hours. But I can't live without girlfriends… It’s fine if he's not there; I just need someone to b***h about it to.
