THIS [Gallery] Visits x Danny Gibson ~ Video

The Incase crew delivers THIS Visits chat-fest with artist-slash-designer Danny Gibson in his workspace. This was actually the first interview in the ongoing web series that focuses on emerging talent in the fields of art, music and design and aims to capture the people, places and things that bring us joy and spark creativity.

Is it me, or doesn't Danny Gibson's mannerism remind you of [director] Harmony Korine.

An introvert dedicated to little else than his heart and spirit, Danny Gibson's introduction to art and design came through music. He got his outlook on art from his family, who believe that art is for the masses and should be inclusive rather than exclusive. His family instilled in him a belief that no matter how you earn a living, you can still go out into the world and be an artist in your own right.

THIS Visits presents an 8-minute portrait of Danny Gibson, a young man that escaped the cage of social class, dares to dream and is valiant is his efforts to remain staunchly nostalgic.

Harmony Korine x Ryan Mcginley ~ BLAST

[Filmmaker] Harmony Korine and [Pixer] Ryan Mcginley talk to BLAST [online] magazine about their initial encounter and creative decade-long friendship. Enjoy the vid.

"Blast is a lifestyle and tech magazine focused on us spoiled Generation Y kids born between 1978 and sometime in the early 90s. [And a few Generation X holdovers — think MTV before "The Hills," Atari and baseball with long hair, mustaches and no steroids]."

THIS [Gallery] Visits x Alex Prager ~ Video

The video project - THIS Visits - from the dynamic-duo Luis Farfan and Aaron Farley of THIS Gallery presented by Incase is part of our ongoing support of creative communities. THIS Visits chats with pixer Alex Prager as part of its series that focuses on emerging talent in the fields of art, music and design and aims to capture the people, places and things that bring us joy and spark creativity.

Daring, mysterious, funny, charming and extremely talented, Alex Prager is a true find in the arts and photography scene. She's a self-taught photographer who learned her craft from second-hand books purchased at flea markets, and her unique style and approach to modern photography have taken her from small group shows in the back rooms of boutiques to the walls of the MoMa and the New Museum.

THIS Visits presents a rare glimpse into the life of an exceptionally gifted young woman and one of the most intriguing artists working today.

NOVA Artscapes ~ Scion Installation Los Angeles

The Scion Installation L.A. presents NOVA Artscapes ~ curated by David Quiles Guilló [ROJO]® ~ is having its opening reception on Saturday, September 18 at 7:00pm to 10:00pm. NOVA Artscapes shall remain on view until Saturday, October 9 at Scion Installation L.A.'s 3521 Helms Avenue [@ National] in Culver City, California [90232].

"ROJO® travels to Los Angeles to generate a mix of creative event and art exhibition featuring exclusive collaborated art installations and new original artwork by 8 selected artists from around the world. The featured artists include Gustavo Gagliardo [DEFI], Koen Delaere, MOMO, Anna Taratiel [OVNI], Rebecca Ward, Sosaku Miyazaki, Tofer Chin and Yago Hortal."

Curator ~
Born in Spain and now based in Brazil, David Quiles Guilló launched ROJO® in 2001. The mission of ROJO® is to promote and support young and unknown artists from all around the world.

Artists ~
Gustavo Gagliardo [DEFI] was born in Devoto, Buenos Aires and played an important part in the birth of Street Art in Argentina. While the street is his natural environment, his work has been exhibited in gallery spaces in London, Berlin, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Milan and Buenos Aires.

Koen Delaere produces about 100 to 150 paintings every year, but only twenty to twenty-five of these are given his 'approval' to go out into the world for exhibition, sale and installation in galleries, living rooms and museums. The rest are destroyed.

MOMO - a San Francisco native now settled in New York - is known for tagging his name the width of Manhattan, creating over sized collage, and faking a New Yorker magazine cover, amongst other art-related subversions. In 2009 ROJO published his first monograph 3am-6am.

Anna Taratiel [OVNI] creates her own landscapes by transforming movements into visible forms. She pushes people and objects, machines, antagonisms and similarities to exchange, to communication.

Rebecca Ward's installations are site-specific works dependant upon the space they occupy. Utilizing existing lines, beams, and angles, each piece is informed by the individual site and its unique linear movement. Thus, her installations are inherently architectural.

Sosaku Miyazaki was born in 1975 in Japan, and lives and works in Tokyo and Barcelona. Strongly influenced by urban life, Sosaku’s creations first could be seen in Barcelona’s streets in 2005. His work ranges from painting to sculpture, covering photography, music, video, ready-made, installations and performance art.

Tofer Chin is a visual artist who has put a youth-impacted spin on contemporary art, imagery, and photography. He has designed urban art installations in Sao Paolo and was commissioned by interior designer Kelly Wearstler to create original works for Los Angeles' Avalon Hotel and Miami's Viceroy Hotel.

Yago Hortal is a prize-winning Spanish artist who lives and works in Berlin and has exhibited extensively throughout Spain.
