Red Hook Summer tells the story of Flik Royale [Jules Brown] --- a sullen young boy from middle-class Atlanta who has come to spend the summer with his deeply religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch Rouse (Clarke Peters), in the housing projects of Red Hook.
Having never met before, things quickly get off on the wrong foot as Bishop Enoch relentlessly attempts to convert Flik into a follower of Jesus Christ. Between his grandfather's constant preaching and the culture shock of inner-city life, Flik's summer appears to be a total disaster --- until he meets Chazz Morningstar [Toni Lysaith] --- a pretty girl his age --- who shows Flik the brighter side of Brooklyn. Through her love and the love of his grandfather --- Flik begins to realize that the world is a lot bigger, and perhaps a lot better, than he'd ever imagined.

the valtari mystery film experiment
Sigur Rós have given a dozen film makers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever comes into their head when they listen to songs from the band's new album valtari. the idea is to bypass the usual artistic approval process and allow people utmost creative freedom. among the filmmakers are ramin bahrani, alma har'el and john cameron mitchell.
"we never meant our music to come with a pre-programmed emotional response. we don't want to tell anyone how to feel and what to take from it. with the films, we have literally no idea what the directors are going to come back with. none of them know what the others are doing, so hopefully it could be interesting."

Interview Magazine: Marc Jacobs. It is not that long ago that was Marc Jacobs to meet for about 57 hours clocked closely at the invitation of Peek & Cloppenburg in Berlin to the finalists of the contest designer for Tomorrow. We met the American designers in the wood-paneled room of a private club, located next to a pompous marble fireplace, in front of a pack of Marlboro Lights.
