Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married

I am literally obsessed with Toni Morrison's posthumous slavery novel - Beloved - and Jonathan Demme's incredible direction of the film and Danny Glover and Ms. Winfrey's great performances in the underrated picture. But I'm here to sell you on Director Jonathan Demme's new film - Rachel Getting Married which stars Anne Hathaway, Tunde Adebimpe, Debra Winger and Rosemarie DeWitt - and urge you to watch it when it opens in theaters on Friday.

Rachel Getting Married: When Kym returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel, she brings a long history of personal crisis and family conflict with her. The wedding party's abundant cast of friends and relations have gathered for an idyllic weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym--with her black-comic one-liners and knack for bombshell drama--is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic.

Anne Hathaway Humps W

Anne Hathaway graces the cover and pages of W October 2008 issue to promote her starring role in Sony Pictures Classics and Director Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married. Debra Winger and Rosemarie DeWitt co-star and it's written by Jenny Lumet.

When Anne Hathaway's Kym returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rosemarie Dewitt's Rachel, she brings a long history of personal crisis and family conflict along with her. The wedding party's abundant cast of friends and relations have gathered for an idyllic weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym - with her black-comic one-liners and knack for bombshell drama-is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic.

On Personal Issues: As soon as I found out about the arrest, I had to get on a plane to Mexico to do a press tour for Get Smart. And then I spent a week in shock at a friend's house. And then I had to go back and do more press, and I haven’t stopped since.

On Her Friends: It's a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden. But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. One said, Go stay at my house. And Steve Carell (Get Smart co-star) stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question (about it). He said, At some point you're going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don't have to do it this week. I'll take care of anything that comes your way. I've been shown such kindness.

W hits newsstand on Tuesday, September 23. Rachel Getting Married opens in theaters on Friday, October 3.
