Cheap Ugly Betty Shoots New York City

Ugly Betty production is moving to New York City for a 35% tax credit from the city and state. It was confirmed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. David Paterson and ABC Studios President Mark Pedowitz.

Saturday Night Live's Amy Poehler spoofed the relocation decision in her Weekend Update segment: "Producers of the hit show Ugly Betty are in talks to relocate production of the show to New York City, where it is set. Which is odd, because I thought it was set on a gay spaceship."
